Are you ready to experience the bustling early morning life of Mumbai? No Footprints invites you to join our flagship tour, Mumbai by Dawn, which provides a unique glimpse into the industrious nature of the city’s inhabitants, their vibrant culture, community businesses, supply chains, migration patterns, and even the logistics of food. This exceptional tour, launched by No Footprints in 2014, has garnered high praise from renowned personalities such as Nigella Lawson, Rick Stein, Tom Fishbourne, as well as prestigious institutions like Harvard and Stanford. With over 15,000 satisfied guests, Mumbai by Dawn promises an unforgettable adventure.

The tour commences at Sassoon Dock, where you will have the opportunity to witness the Koli community in action. Prepare to be amazed as they sort, auction, and sell an astounding 120 tonnes of fish every morning. Observing the intricacies of this trade and witnessing the skill with which they handle the catch is an awe-inspiring experience.

Next on the itinerary is a visit to the newspaper industry, where you will witness the sorting process of newspapers in at least seven different languages right on the street. Gain insights into the functioning of this thriving industry in India, from printing to distribution. Witnessing this operation taking place amidst the vibrant city atmosphere is truly remarkable.

As you journey further, you will encounter milkmen transporting their canisters and bread being distributed. En route, you will come across a bustling market where over 150 tonnes of fresh vegetables and fruits are sold daily. Take a leisurely stroll through this colourful marketplace and discover unique fruits and vegetables that have become an integral part of the Indian diet. This experience prompts the thought-provoking question: How truly “Indian” is Indian food?

While continuing your drive, the guide will share the intriguing history of the textile mill industry in Mumbai, which came into existence as a result of the American Civil War (yes, you read that correctly!). Delve into the transformative impact the mills had on the city and its development. Prepare to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the flower market, where the fusion of religion, faith, and business creates a hive of activity. This enchanting location showcases the true essence of Indian culture, leaving an indelible mark on your memories.

Lastly, if time permits (at the discretion of the guide), the tour concludes with a leisurely walk through a cricket ground that has served as the home to many esteemed Indian cricketers. This final stop adds a touch of sporting glory to the morning’s adventures.

In summary, Mumbai by Dawn promises an experience you simply cannot afford to miss. Join No Footprints on this captivating tour to witness the bustling life of Mumbai, gain insights into various industries, discover the vibrant local markets, explore the city’s history, and soak in the unique culture. Be prepared for a morning filled with unforgettable memories and enchanting encounters.

Needless to say, it comes at a price – Waking up at 5.15 am for one.
