Matharpacdy Village Tour

We have a little secret to share: Come closer… Yes, now that only you can read this – let us bring to you an area of Mumbai very few are aware of. Quaint houses, unknown history, a cross that helps people from Pandemics, the Beatles of India and even a musical instrument that could be deadly. Mix it with a twice-fruiting mango tree that the Mughals loved: Ooh, this is suddenly very interesting right?

Located in the by-lanes of Mazagaon, Matharpacady is Mumbai’s hidden secret. East Indian homes with ornate architecture adorn this area that is home to the lesser-known East Indian community. These forgotten lanes take you back in time, when colourful quaint homes quietly lay within fruiting orchards, and slow life was the only way of living. While the orchards no longer exist, you will still be charmed as this 400-year-old hamlet is full of wonderful stories from its past.
A twice-fruiting mango tree, century-year-old Goan clubs, 125-year-old oratory of the saint of epidemics and infectious diseases, stories of lesser-known freedom fighters, a historic perennial well that has a unique cultural significance to the East Indians, the history of East Indians, are just some of the many interesting places and stories we share with you on the tour.
