Mumbai is one of the few places in the world that has an urban jungle right in the midst of the city. The arrival of monsoons not only enlivens the forest but also gives us a feel of how primitive Mumbai used to be centuries ago. We’ll walk through the 33 sq. km protected forest given to the BNHS as a token of gratitude by the government of Maharashtra for their service and education of Mumbaikars and Indians alike.
We’ll be walking through gushing streams, and dense jungles and open our eyes to the amazing flora and fauna that the jungle has to offer. Under the watchful eye of a conservationist, you will tread through carefully thought-out trails and be one with nature. While you’re walking through the land of leopards, pit vipers, butterflies and myriad reptiles, you will also be educated and there will be discussions on the man-nature conflict that has been around since Mumbai started growing as an urban metropolis.
So let’s explore the wild side of Mumbai.
