Built on what was once a dumping ground, Maharashtra Nature Park stands today as one of Mumbai’s most remarkable examples of ecological restoration. This transformation stands as a testament not only to nature’s resilience, but also to the remarkable outcomes that are possible when communities choose to invest in and care for the natural world.

Led by children’s author and naturalist Katie Bagli, this walk is an invitation to see the natural world through the eyes of a nature detective. Known for her love of exploring the wild, Katie spends her time looking under leaves and stones for fascinating creepy crawlies, and scanning the tree canopies for birds, squirrels, and other urban wildlife. As you wander through the park’s trails, learn to identify different tree species, discover their unique adaptations and ecological roles, and uncover the stories hidden in their leaves, bark, flowers, and fruits.

Whether you’re a seasoned nature lover, curious about the green spaces around you, or someone who has simply wondered, “What’s That Tree?”, this walk is for you. It offers a chance to slow down, observe closely, and experience an urban forest that rose from the most unexpected of places.
