Imagining Delhi in Colour: What does yours look like?
We all live in the same city. We walk the same roads, complain about the same traffic, wait for the same winter sun. And yet, the Delhi in my head is not the Delhi in yours. Some of us remember it in Gulmohar red. Some in dusty summer gold. Some in the sharp blue of winter mornings. Some in the soft pink of spring bougainvillea. This workshop is an invitation to sit with that. Over two slow, thoughtful hours, we’ll create a collage that becomes your love letter to Delhi- not the official, postcard version, but your version. The one shaped by memory, feeling, imagination, and colour. Because memory is not fixed. It is layered. It shifts. It edits. And every version is valid. Spring, especially, asks us to notice colour. The sudden blossoms. The lighter evenings. The way the city feels different when the air changes. This is a season of looking again. Of paying attention. Through guided prompts and conversations, we’ll think about: What colour is your Delhi?
What does that colour hold- joy, chaos, nostalgia, comfort?
How does imagination reshape the city you remember?
You don’t need to “know art.” You don’t need to be good at drawing. Collage is democratic- it allows fragments to coexist and allows contradictions- much like Delhi itself. The artist will help us think through composition, layering, texture, and visual storytelling- but the story will be entirely yours.
By the end, you won’t just leave with a random collage but with a clearer sense of how you see this city- and how many Delhi’s can exist at once.
