Matunga Walk

As you walk through the lanes you can feel the distinct culture and traditions embedded not just in temple architecture but also in food. Spice shops are stocked with South Indian essentials, taking care of the community’s needs. The flower market of Matunga will fill your heart with warmth and your eyes with colour. From the special garlands offered to different Gods to the beautiful gajra, you get it all here. Just like the colourful flowers, the temples are also quite colourful. Witness the huge Gopurams and the intricate detailings narrate different stories. The streets have tiny book nooks attracting not just English but also Tamil and Malayalam readers. 

Did I mention food! Well the smell of a strong filter coffee will try to pull you in as we walk past various cafes and eateries. But don’t worry, we got you. Along with stories of migration, resilience and markets, you’ll also be served steaming filter coffee and crispy dosas, the iconic flavours of South India, right here in Mumbai.
